Open Drum Circle February 2014Kirtan Dates 2016

This year Grafton Drum Circle is taking a hiatus while Rhythmic Heart Kirtan is taking precedence. Please consider joining us for Kirtan!

Kirtan is devotional call and response chanting, accompanied by harmonium and drum and small percussion. This is a community Kirtan event where we come together to raise our voices in song and chant! It calms the mind and stills the soul. This is a participatory experience, so come ready to sing and chant! Connection with others, through the synergy of music allows us to tap into the blissful beings that we are. You may even find that you are up and dancing!

Kirtan is call and response chanting, accompanied by harmonium, drum, tanpura and small percussion. Lyrics are provided.

In the words of Krishna Das:
"The words of these chants are called the divine names and they come from a place that's deeper than our hearts and our thoughts, deeper than the mind. And so as we sing them they turn us towards ourselves, into ourselves. They bring us in, and as we offer ourselves into the experience, the experience changes us. These chants have no meaning other than the experience that we have by doing them. They come from the Hindu tradition, but it's not about being a Hindu, or believing anything in advance. It's just about doing it, and experiencing. Nothing to join, you just sit down and sing."

The Unitarian Universalist Society of Grafton & Upton - UUSGU is hosting Rhythmic Heart Kirtan, a community Kirtan event where we come together to raise our voices in song. It calms the mind and reconnects us with our deeper self. This is a participatory sacred experience, so come ready to sing, dance, etc! Connection with others, through the synergy of music allows us to tap into the blissful beings that we are.

Come even if you've never sung before! This is about finding your inner voice. Don't worry about how you sound.
Everyone is welcome!

So come join us each second Saturday of the month, in Fellowship Hall of the UU Meetinghouse in Grafton for Rhythmic Heart Kirtan. Join us as we celebrate the rhythm of our lives, touching the instinctual heartbeat in each other and ourselves. Everyone is welcome to come and participate in the joy of community synergy through rhythm and chant.

Circle starts at 7:00 pm at the UU Society's Meeting House, 3 Grafton Common, Grafton, MA.
